Chelm: Stories and Scenes
These stories, of roughly 17th century origin, use the name of the real town of Chelm in Poland, to locate a body of folktales about a particular Jewish order of foolishness. With a wise silliness, Chelm’s creations, inhabitants, and adventures are told in pictures and words.
